Quick poll on the redesign...

I'm not finished with it by a long shot but this is the basic format I settled on. Thumbs up? Thumbs down? Any viewing issues? And no one's going to comment on how the mallard finished off the Grouse and then pawned his jewelry to buy a bottle of Laphroaig?

In the immortal words of Gob Bluth... "Come on!"

  1. Looks good -- I like the shadow effect on the photos.

Unrelated -- my vol. fire dept. has had me in a hazmat class the past two weekends. Lots of Oklahoma "incident" photos in the textbook -- including one by a Chad Love of a burning tanker trailer (or was it a railcar?).

  2. Hi Chas, yep, that was one of mine from back when I was writing for our state newspaper. If I can find the files on my old computer I'll post an image. That was a pretty intense fire. It was a tanker truck full of something that burned very, very hot but burned invisibly, so the firefighters had to use thermal cameras to figure out where the flame was.

  3. Very nice! The text is much more readable now, and the color scheme is easy on the eye.

But Laphroig? Blech. And I don't say that lightly about any expensive bottle of booze ... but blech.

  4. Norcal, yes, it's an, uh...acquired taste. My wife finds it completely repugnant.

I think the best description I've seen of Laphroaig came from Bruce Smithhammer over at Mouthful of Feathers when he likened it to falling face-first into a peat bog and not being able to get up.

  6. I, too, like the new look. As for the Laphroig, guess the mallard is in the mood for something a bit more bracing. Islays always seem to go with cold weather, to my mind.

  7. Thumbs up here. Never acquired that taste for the islays, though. The Highland spirits like Dalwhinnie I can take.

  8. Nice job on the look, but I'm with Holly on your new choice of whiskey.
